Autumnal Moments

Yesterday was Thanksgiving in Canada. Yes, we do have Thanksgiving, with turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. And yes, it is at a slightly different time of year than in the United States. Our Thanksgiving is all about being thankful for the harvest and each other. Also turkey. It’s a time for being with family. For walking through forests blazing with colour. Football and shopping have nothing to do with it.

I heard that the colour in Muskoka this year is absolutely, stunningly, beautiful. The Fall colours in Muskoka begin gradually, but then, one day, they’ve taken over and there is barely a speck of green to be seen. Often, the colours are at their height by mid-September and they’ve begun to fade by Thanksgiving. Every so often, Thanksgiving falls early enough to occur during the most beautiful days of Autumn. This year is one of those times.

These photos were taken during Thanksgivings gone by.
