Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, The Secret Garden … so many of us grew up reading about the Moors of Yorkshire. So, when we had the opportunity to visit, even for only an afternoon spent mostly in the car so we could see as much as possible, we took it. Several of these shots were taken from the car as we drove.
South Yorkshire is beautiful and rare. In August, when the Heather is in bloom, it becomes incredible.
These are the moors where Catherine searched for Heathcliff, and where Mary was brought from India after her parents died of Cholera.
“I never expected it to be so hilly,” she said as the wind hit her hair, blowing it about her face. She paused for a moment, looking around, inhaling. “So beautiful.”
I think I’ll leave this one at that.

Great photos showing the beauty of the landscape — thanks a lot for pointing out the literary connection too 🙂 !
