Autumn has a completely different flavour here, but the familiar colours of Canada can be found in different places, if you know where to look.
I was in the right place at the right time for this one. My favourite pond, lovely all year, takes on rareness in the golden Autumn light. It was misty that day, ghostly. The sun would not be denied, however, and this mighty Oak, newly burnished gold, captured it momentarily.I don’t know what they are, but every year I look forward to watching the berries take on their Autumn colours.I miss the red of Sugar Maple in Autumn, but these bushes are a lovely substitute. The berries on this tree catch me every year, the colour so delicate. It makes me think of Haiku. It had been grey all day, but for several minutes, blue skies and sun touched our world. At this time of year, the sun and moon vie for position. In late afternoon, the moon is already high, smiling at her brother the sun.
I’ve come to look forward to watching for the subtle and not-so-subtle colours of Autumn here. They are so very different and if you expect the vibrancy of Canadian Autumn … well, it’s not to be found. Until you realise that it is all around you, in places you would never look … in the berries, on vines, in the angle of the sun.
I'm a Canadian who loves our planet and the people living on it. I also love to travel and take pictures. I'd like to think I've improved a little, but am pretty sure there's room to be better.
