Artistic: Collaboration Doesn’t matter what you shoot, just do with another artist. Share vision and ideas. Collaborate.
Now, this one goes way back to Week 33. I’m so behind at this point, I don’t even know which week I’m meant to be on right now. That said ….
I’ve been looking forward to this one, because I have been involved in a new collaboration in my other life as a jazz singer. I just kept forgetting my camera. Finally, last week, I remembered. She’s something of a photographer herself, as well as a clarinetist, so she worked with me on angles and suggestions for ways of handling it. It was a lot of fun.
In the end, I closed in on her and her clarinet, singing the numbers as I did (we were rehearsing, after all). I tried different angles, played with different areas of focus. I call this ‘The Player and The Played’.

I really like that the first thing you see is the gleam of the clarinet key and you move out from there. She dances while she plays and my shutter speed was quite slow, so getting a shot that was this still was a feat! In retrospect, I could have used a higher ISO, say about a 400, to allow more light in. Then I could have had a slightly faster shutter speed which would have made catching my moving target a little easier. Still, I did it, and I’m very pleased with the result.
May sound odd but I found the movement in the fingers quite fascinating. Lots to look at. Mom >
